Born and raised in Hong Kong, Yannick's golf journey began with a dream of turning professional after winning his first trophy at age 13. His game progressed rapidly through high school in Scotland, leading him to play collegiate golf at Northwestern University—a dream realized. While his freshman year showed promise, his sophomore year saw significant improvement, putting him on the cusp of his professional aspirations.
Then, the unexpected challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Sent home for six months, Yannick faced strict restrictions in Asia, unable to swing a club for four straight months. Despite returning to the US and practicing, his game never quite rebounded to its former level. He found himself in a frustrating rut, feeling stagnant, burned out, and losing his enjoyment for the game he once loved. This difficult period led him to make the profound decision to step away from the pursuit of a professional career, a choice that was incredibly challenging for him.
It was during this time that he discovered "Golf Is Not A Game Of Perfect." This book profoundly shifted his perspective, rekindling his joy for golf and helping him realize his identity extended far beyond just a golfer. He gained emotional control, both on and off the course, and continued to delve into sport psychology throughout his collegiate career. While his professional aspirations shifted, a new, powerful purpose emerged: to help other golfers prevent burnout, rediscover their passion, and find happiness and self-worth both on and off the course.
